This revenge based Hollywood style movie starts with a grand scene where a Helicopter lands on a train and fight happens inside.
Then it moves to the family life of an Anti Terrorism agents group and shows a detailed revenge story between a Terrorist and a member of the agent group.

Positive things in GOAT movie
Even though Rajiv Menon ( Actor Mohan ) does not have much screen space in the movie, his moves towards taking revenge on M S Gandhi ( Actor Vijay's father role ) is there throughout in the movie even in the happy family moments between Gandhi and Anuradha ( Actress Sneha ) and Gandhi.
The silent killer behaviour of Kalyan Sundaram ( actor Prashanth ) persists from the beginning till the end of Kalyan Sundaram.
Another interesting move by the director is casting actor Ajmal and keeping him in Loyal role and having prabhu deva in a cunning role. It would have not been expected many of the audience.
Having strong flash back scene for Jeevan ( Actor Vijay - young role ) is the back bone of the movie. If that flash back scene was not convincing then the movie might have given unsatisfied to audience.
Cameo appearance of actor Siva Karthikeyan as himself towards the end of the movie makes sense as the purpose of having a hero in that scene is convincing.
Music of Yuvan has proven that he is not just a cinema background scorer but he is a creator of music. Saying this because in many scenes, the background music stands alone as good music to hear. For an example, the music comes when the Pataya city of Thailand is shown and when the fight scene of father and son characters of Vijay begins in Russia etc.., On the other hand, the music feels like flaw in some scenes specially in the roof fight in climax. For me, it was like a music made to give the same feel of Mangatha movie background music.
Acting of actor Mohan looks like overacting in some scenes, ineffective in some scenes. Especially in the scene when he had to give a villain laugh before the beginning of flash back scene and in the scene when he ties father Vijay and Sneha in a godown.
It is a hard thing to convince the audience to feel the villain role in the movie is strong as the role is also done by actor Vijay himself. But the flash back scene and the scene before intermission make us get convinced that the flash back scene explains the reason for notorious behaviour of Jeevan and the intermission scene shows how strong Jeevan is trained and grown up as a terrorist.
Director has left many things unanswered to the audience for discussions such as, why there is no questions on Prabu deva for killing many fighters in Pattaya? | How did Gandhi enter the train to rescue Nazeer ( actor Jayaram )?
Comedy scenes of Yogi Babu has worked out well with his one liners mixed with the story and character names of the movie.
Casting of Sneha has worked out well as the scenes when she cries for her children and family does not allow us to think much seeing her performance as she suits well for those scenes.
It is obvious that Director VP has attempted to create Holywood kind of scenes with Vijay such as that Parachute scene and a comical conversation with Sneha by hanging on a building.
The skeleton of the story line is a revenge story between a terrorist ( Rajiv Menen ) and a Raw Agent ( M S Gandhi ). This story has been moulded with the following interesting things with the intelligence of director Venkat Prabu.

Flaws in GOAT movie
Even though the movie has many plus points, there are some flaws as follows
The tit for tat behaviour between Gandhi and Jeevan has been shown with many similar scenes especially the attack on Gandhi by Jeevan has many scenes filled in second half of the movie.
Characterisation of Kalyan Sundaram, Nazeer and Rajiv Menen roles could have been more deep when comparing with other roles like, Sri Nithi ( actress Meenakshi Chaudary ).
The camera work in few scenes like, fight inside the Train was shaky without a significant reason.
There are many audience having much expectation on Venkat Prabu movie as he has shown magic movie watching experience in his last movie Maanadu with time loop concept. But GOAT does not have such new things but merely de aging technology.
