When we look at the personnel life of Manorama, she was born and brought up in Thanjavur district of Tamilnadu and she married to S M Ramanathan who was the drama troupe manager of her in the year 1964 and then the couple got departed with mutual divorce in the year of 1964. Currently Manorama has been living in a separate house in Chennai city.

The acting career of Manorama started by watching a drama in the drama company namely Vairam nadaka sabha when she was in her schooling age. With the reference of Mr. P A Kumar Manorama got a chance to act in dramas in small roles with the drama name, SSR Nadaka Mandram. She started her acting career with the dramas namely Manimagudam and pudhu vellam. The drama namely Mani magudam can be said as the debut drama for Manorama.
The year when Manorama entered into Tamil cinema is 1958 that she came to Tamil cinema from drama with the movie namely Maalaiyitta Mangai and Manorama had a big role in that movie and the very first movie of Manorama as a heroin is Konjum Kumari in the year of 1963. The very first song sung by Tamil actress Manorama was under the music of T M Sundera Rajan and the song took place in the movie namely Dharshinam. Both of these movies are still remembered by the Tamil cinema audience for the basic story line of these movies and the acting of Manorama, Shivaji Ganeshan and Siva Kumar. The year 1988 was a great year for Tamil actress Manorama. In this year, she acted in remarkable movies like, Guru Chishyan and Paatti Sollai Thattadhae. In the movie Paatti Sollai Thattadhae, Manorama did the title role that the role of Paatti was done by Manorama herself. In the movie Guru Sishya, Tamil actor Rajinikanth and Prabu acted together. It was a full comedy movie and the role of Manorama in this movie was the wife of a police man and she did nice comedy scenes. In the year 1989 Manorama acted in the hit movies, Aboorva Sagodharargal and Pudhiya Paadhai.
