Name of first serial acted by Soori – Mandhira Vasal directed by Jerald in the year 1996.

His role in his first serial was a thief. He was working as an electrician in the shooting of that serial and got a chance to act in some scenes.

Soori has also acted in one of the famous serials Thirumathi Selvam under the direction of Kumaran.

Finally he has tried to convince his mother saying that he can earn much money if he enters Cinema and moved out of house. As she did not get convinced, he left the home without informing anyone to chennai and started looking for a chance to act in cinema.

but after coming to chennai he has faced a lot of struggles that he did not even go home for 7 years continuously. That he was struggling to earn money in those times by thinking that he will have to buy something and go for family like a saree for mother, lungi for brothers if he goes home. For those reasons he was postponing his visit to home.

One day when he spoke with his mother by telephone, he said to his mother by mistake that he did not eat and just had water for dinner. On hearing that his mother has got fainted.

Then he acted in the movie Ullam Kollai pogudhey, in this movie also Prabu deva acted as the hero of the movie.
